School Nurse As school nurses we are required by the state to be a registered nurse with a specialized certification in school nursing.  We follow strict New Jersey state school health laws as well as Galloway Township school nursing policies. We have many duties that include providing health screenings for every student during every school year; these screenings include hearing and vision testing, height, weight, blood pressure and pulse monitoring and scoliosis screenings for 5th and 6th grades. We also provide care for sick and injured students, administer medications as ordered by the student’s health care provider,  secure and maintain confidential health records for all students, monitor the students health records for state required immunizations, care for students with chronic health issues and assist them to maintain optimal health. We also educate school staff on emergency medical procedures.
